Located off Lower Clapton Road, the proposal replaces a cluster of three former industrial buildings with a four-storey mix-use development, accommodating both commercial and residential units.
Designed as a tectonic cube, the building is sculpted as a result of the various daylight/outlook constraints of its neighbouring buildings and arranged around a central courtyard. Clad in yellow stock facing bricks with a language of flat-panelled zinc cladding within the folded inner surfaces of the balconies and window reveals. The top level is also clad in zinc. The two, main, street-facing corners of the cube are characterised by dramatic double-volume balconies and living spaces serving as duplex apartments.
